What were yesterday’s main election disappointments for the main parties?
Humberside: John Prescott was hoping to become the new Humberside PCC but dramatically lost in a tight contest.
Manchester: The Tories were expecting to do badly here but not to lose their deposit in the Manchester Central parliamentary by-election.
Corby: The Conservatives conceded their first parliamentary seat to Labour in fifteen years and the Liberal Democrats lost their deposit by nine votes.
Dyfed-Powys: Provisionally a Labour seat with the Liberal Democrats not bothering to field a candidate, the Tories narrowly took this PCC position.
Bristol: Favourite with the bookies during the entire race, Marvin Rees was spectacularly beaten by ex Lib Dem George Ferguson, running under a ‘Bristol 1st’ banner.
